Rules for Being Human
Nov 6th, 2009 by Giselle
Today, I will share a poem that I absolutely love. This poem is about life and our view of life. According to the poem, the problems we encounter in life are merely our “lessons” in the school of life. As long as we are alive, these lessons will keep coming and even repeat if we do not learn them. They will only disappear when we get them. The light bulb moment comes when we realise that these “problems” exist mostly in our heads. And if we mindfully tune in to our inner wisdom, all the answers are there. Therefore, we can be at peace and absolutely relax because LIFE JUST IS. Life inherently has no meaning, no struggles and no stories…
Rules for Being Human
You will receive a body.
You may like it or hate it, but it will be yours for the entire period this time around.
You will learn lessons.
You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called ‘life’. Each day in this school you will learn lessons. You may like the lesson or think them irrelevant or stupid.
There are no mistakes, only lessons.
Growth is a process of trial and error, experimentation. The “failed” experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiment that ultimately “”works”.
A lesson is repeated until it is learned.
A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. Then you can go on to the next lesson.
Learning lessons does not end.
There is no part of life that does not contain its lessons. If you are alive, there are lessons to be learned.
There is no better than here.
When your “there” has become a “here”, you will simply obtain another “there” that again looks better than “here”.
Others are only mere mirrors of you.
You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself.
What you make of your life is up to you.
You have all the tools and resources you need; what you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.
The answers lie inside you.
The answers to life’s questions lie inside you. All you need to do is look, listen, and trust.

Its really a nice article. It shows the meaning of life. Whatever the step we had taken in life whether its bad or good it finally returns to us. Therefore, it is necessary to learn the lesson of life. Moreover, thanks for sharing such ideas on life, it help me out a lot about life.
I really enjoy your website! Very informative, thank you and nice piece on “Rules For Being Human”, I thought i might share the following if you don’t mind…
“You’ll seldom experience regret for anything that you’ve done. It is what you haven’t done that will torment you. The message, therefore, is clear. Do it! Develop an appreciation for the present moment. Seize every second of your life and savor it. Value your present moments. Using them up in any self-defeating ways means you’ve lost them forever.”
